Senior Civil Engineer

This position will be located in our Melbourne office situated at 40 City Road, Southbank.

pitt&sherry are looking to grow its Civil Design team’s capacity through the attraction of a committed and talented Drainage Engineer. Key attractions for this role include:

Description

Plans, designs, organises and oversees the design and construction of road and civil design projects, focusing on the discipline of drainage design as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Registration or licensing may be required.

Duties will include:

  • Undertaking civil drainage design activities independently using appropriate modelling software (12d) and the relevant Australian design guidelines and standards including Austroads and Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR) among others
  • Working collaboratively with other civil design disciplines to conceptualise and progress project designs from concept to IFC stages, including solving problems in complex sites
  • Providing advice and assistance on design elements during construction phases
  • Presenting and explaining designs and issues to clients, including State government and Contractors. Identifying and discussing design solution options with multiple stakeholders and the project team to progress design.
  • Monitoring and conduct changes to designs, assessing costs associated with design options
  • Identifying design criteria; writing and reviewing design exception documents, reports, memos etc
  • Reviewing drawings and instructing drafting staff on content and presentation of design drawings
  • Mentoring and training of graduate staff in the use of software, design process and engineering concepts
  • Ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with WH&S policies and procedures
  • Contributing to investigations, design and documentation, project management and technical advisory work

Ideally what we are looking for;

  • Proficiency in independent use of 12d modelling software for drainage design
  • Understanding of Australian design requirements and experience in undertaking design of drainage systems, particularly as required on roads projects
  • Experience in working on large, multi-disciplinary road design projects, especially in the MRPV delivery model
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and contribute to the team culture of openness, integrity and teamwork
