In a local Tasmanian joint venture, VEC-Shaw has been announced as the preferred contractor for the Perth Links Road Project, the largest single component of the $500 million Midland Highway 10 Year Action Plan and the final link in providing a dual carriageway from Launceston to Perth.pitt&sherry was involved initially in the tender designs and now will create the more detailed design including the six bridges, 2 culverts, stop crossings and a highway which is approximately 6km. There are two grade-separated interchanges involving approximately 7.9km of ramps.The Tasmanian Infrastructure Minister, Jeremy Rockliff says work is due to start later this year and to be completed by the mid-2021, subject to the finalisation of the contract. The Australian Government has committed $83 million to the $92 million project in partnership with the Tasmanian Government.
