Our evolution

Inside the shift
1963
Brian Pitt, a Civil Engineer with the Devonport Marine Board founds pitt&sherry as a consulting business.

1965
Brian was joined by Clive Sherry, a Municipal Engineer at Devonport Council.

1985
The company opened its first office in Launceston, Tasmania. 

1995
pitt&sherry merged with Morgan, Klok and Neilsen, adding building surveying capabilities.

1998
pitt&sherry doubled in size when 30 personnel joined via a major alliance contract with the Tasmanian Department of Transport

1999-2004
Operated an office in East Timor assisting with infrastructure renewal.

2016
Transitioned to a corporate board governance and management structure, introducing a Non-Executive Chairman.

2016
pitt&sherry merged with KMH Environmental.

2020
pitt&sherry undertook an internal transformation to enhance operations, project and resource capabilities.

2024
pitt&sherry launches 2030 strategy to continue on our transformation journey and embrace the challenges of a changing world.

David Atchison

Executive General Manager - Clients & Markets
David is a highly regarded client manager who has a passion for building talented teams to deliver great client and project outcomes. He brings a collaborative nature to his work, truly seeking to understand client needs. As Executive General Manager – Clients & Markets, David brings his relationship building, strategic planning, and strong business acumen to our clients and their projects. He combines a strong technical background as a geologist with twenty year’s resource sector experience. David has significant experience in Australia and worked closely with clients in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Barry is an experienced IT leader, advisor and consultant who engages at all levels throughout the business. With over 15 years of experience in tackling complex information and business technology problems; whilst building deep relationships with colleagues and clients, Barry uses frameworks such as ITIL and TOGAF in practical ways to drive success and add value to any situation.
Nicky Pollington

Nicky Pollington
Executive General Manager - Project Performance and Control
Nicky holds a degree in Geology and has worked in mining operations and infrastructure development in Australia and internationally for over 25 years. She is known for her engaging approach to understanding client requirements. In her role as Executive General Manager – Project Performance & Control, Nicky drives performance, efficiency and commercial outcomes on our projects. She supports our teams with managing project risk and oversees project methodology, training and compliance. Nicky’s sound judgment, drawn from navigating complex projects, combined with her courage and passion for pitt&sherry’s vision makes her a valuable member of the executive leadership team.
Andy Turner

Andy Turner
Executive General Manager - Capability, General Manager - Technical Services
Andy is a Senior Principal Engineer with more than 35 years’ experience in geotechnical and civil engineering, consulting engineering business development, and corporate management, including directorship with pitt&sherry. Andy has developed a deep knowledge and expertise that have allowed him to grow pitt&sherry’s multidisciplinary service delivery within Tasmania and supported our offices in other states. In his role as Executive General Manager – Capability, Andy uses his leadership skills and in-depth knowledge of our company’s resources and capabilities to drive technical expertise and deliver value for our clients. He is actively engaged in people development, seeking to nurture individual’s skills and capabilities, and has successfully mentored many of our engineers and scientists from graduates to senior positions within pitt&sherry.
