Mona Museum recognised at National MBA Awards

We are delighted to congratulate Fairbrother as the 2018 National Winner at the National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards. Fairbrother’s win for the construction of MONA Pharos in the  Commercial / Industrial $20m – $50m category is well deserved recognition for their dedication and hard work in completing a challenging and complex building.

The project involved complexity both above and below ground. pitt&sherry provided the geotechnical and structural engineering services for the below ground structures which involved the construction of a 39 m long tunnel and two underground chambers.

Our specialist consultants Delia Sidea (who has provided geotechnical services for the past decade for MONA) and Bjorn Jensen worked collaboratively with MONA,  Fairbrother and several other consultants on this project. The other principal consultants included:

  • Fender Katsalidis Architects – architecture
  • Gandy and Roberts  – Structural engineering services above ground
  • JMG – Civil, electrical, mechanical

pitt&sherry along with the above consultants and Fairbrother are currently collaborating in the design and construction of the Solstice complex at MONA. This will house several art works from Ai Weiwei, Oliver Beer, The Divine Comedy by Alfredo Jaar and a 25 m underground light work by artist collective UVA. pitt & sherry are providing geotechnical and below ground structural engineering services to this new and exciting part of MONA which is due to open in 2019.
